Lake Tapawingo is a city in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 843 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.5 square miles (1.3 km2), of which, 0.3 square miles (0.78 km2) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) of it (27.66%) is water.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 843 people, 350 households, and 259 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,454.6 people per square mile (957.3/km²). There were 373 housing units at an average density of 1,086.1 per square mile (423.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.98% White, 0.12% Asian, 0.71% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.25% of the population.
There were 350 households out of which 22.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.7% were married couples living together, 4.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% were non-families. 20.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 2.79.
